Final journal of the year. I've been saving up for this one.
My top ten nuzlocke picks list~ Some of these you may have heard of, others probably not so much. I'd recommend ALL of these nuzlockes because they're the most awesome ones I've read out of all the nuzlockes I've ever picked up. And I tend to read TOO much.
's Dark Start
I'm a sucker for B/W art. Kiahl's run stars Elle, a kind of anti-hero out to basically destroy the league in revenge for her brother. It's pretty...graphic, but I love the detail put into this run. While a little hard to keep up with the characters sometimes, the story stays on a fairly consistant track and has a nice update schedule.
Also, Silv--excuse me, Bea, is, by far, the most...interesting characterization of "Rival" I've ever seen in a HGSS nuzlocke.
's Kit's Nuzlocke Adventure/Kit's Platinum Nuzlocke Adventure
Monochrome...again. This run is FULL of nerdy good times. The comedy here is gut-bustingly incredible, and all the characters are wonderful~ Kit himself is quite a trainer, in a weird sor to of way. Most of his Pokemon have a strange "hate to love you" relationship with him, but it all works out in the end. It's like watching one big happy-but-dysfunctional family roll around Sinnoh. This particular comic is actually a sequel to his Hoenn adventures. Both nuzlockes are definately worth checking out! Apparently, he has a Gen. 5 one starting soon, too...
's Riley's Soulful HeartGold Nuzlocke
Comedy, comedy everywhere~ This run is funny, random, and full of life! Each character is all it's own entity, and the art is AWESOME! However, there's a hidden (...very well hiden...) serious side to the story that just draws you in. This run is great if you have that infamous stupid sense of humor~
's Child's Game
Again with the B/W art. This story is...creepy, but in that oh-so-fantastical way. There's a lot going on, but the story never feels crowded at all. The Pokemon are adorable and freakishly scary at the same time. It's a world where "loyalty" seems to only be a word and children are open experiements for the league. I absolutely love the mystery elements of this nuzlocke. And Simon...poor Simon. That kid has issues. Also Desu Wally!
's Red Madness
...Oy. I love characters with split personalities, and my good friend Mad delivers. Rick is not your average trainer, and he's got some SERIOUS shit going on in his life...and in his head. There are a lot of questions I'm dying to know the answers to in this run, and I enjoy every update. Pele is probably the only zigzagoon/lioone I will ever like. He's too awesome for words.
's Trails of Kanto
It's just started, I know, but I know more about this story than any other reader because Jewel and I tend to talk to much with each other
. This run breaks many a stereotype concerning Gary and even Prof. Oak. Gary's actually a decent guy (albiet still a bit pig-headed), and Prof. Oak is... a douchebag? It's an interesting take on one of the most beloved generations of Pokemon out there. I'm excited to see all of the new characters that'll be showing up!
Once again, the B/W. Her artstyle is most certainly one of the best around, and I HIGHLY recommend not only her nuzlocke but her art in general. GO WATCH HER NOW! >:U Marigold is our slightly unprepared protagonist who's just so sweet and innocent, I honestly worry about her like a mom. But she has Rex, the secretive and untrusting cyndaquil by her side, so she's fine. Now if only Joey weren't so....
Probably one of the cutest nuzlockes ever created. It's got quite the original take since Rooke, our heroine trainer, is actually from OUR universe. How she got to the Pokemon realm...well, that's a question we have yet to find an answer for. There are an awful lot of characters to keep up with in this run (so many, in fact, that I sometimes feel like I'm missing bits of the story), but overall, everyone is sweet and charming. Rooke is one of my dearest friends, and I enjoy her nuzlocke updates very much! She also invented picturelockes, and has several other runs worth looking into.
's Desu's Emerald Nuzlocke
Nya, Nya, Nya... I love this girl so much. Her nuzlocke is a generbent nuzlocke, so it's crazy as all get out. But I enjoy it all because the artwork is incredible and the characters are awesome!
Des--Ruby is a fun but tempermental trainer who doesn't seem to completely understand everything around her. She's all reaction, but, oh, is it funny to watch. Oz II is one of the scariest Pokemon I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. But my "favorite" title must go to new member Arren, the blind Numel. Because blind Pokemon are the best Pokemon.
's Burning Bridges
From the art to the characters to the story to everything else in between, this run is my absolute FAVORITE run of any and all nuzlockes I've ever read. It's just... INCREDIBLE! WONDERFUL! So detailed and yet so simple... I love how Wan recreates the designs of all the Pokemon, how realistic the world is. This nuzlocke is everything I wish for in a nuzlocke, and even though it updates slowly, each update makes me sing with joy. Donahue seriously makes me love Squirtle. I cannot wait for this nuzlocke to continue on! Keep up the excellent work, Wan!
And these are Chachi's top 10 nuzlocke picks~ Of course, there are many other great nuzlockes out there that I read, but these 10 are the best in my personal opinion
. Go check them out if you haven't already! Happy New Year!
